ZinKlad Performance and Fact Sheets

Unrivaled consistency

Surface treatments help to increase the lifespan of fasteners, improving the perception of quality and ultimate end-user experience. Specifying the correct protection helps to minimize warranty costs and mitigate the risk of field failure – ultimately, maintaining a consistent and reliable performance.

ZinKlad helps to ensure that ferrous components are corrosion resistant – a critical factor in maintaining optimum performance in the automotive industry.  ZinKlad coatings have provided hexavalent free coatings for automotive applications for over 10 years now. In that time, the ZinKlad program has enabled many global OEMs to specify higher standards than they had previously achieved.

Barrel Applications Overview

ZinKlad 72

ZinKlad 72 is a unique approach to achieve both high quality and consistency for the phosphating of automotive fasteners. Heavyweight zinc - for corrosion resistant finishes with modified coefficient of friction.

  • Micro-crystalline zinc as an undercoat for subsequent organic finishes.
  • Manganese for wear resistance.

Promotes adhesion of organic coatings to the steel substrate and presents applicators with several advantages including economical low consumption, cost-effective working temperature and reduced sludge formation, from our KeyKote® technology. In addition, applicators can easily adjust the weight, thickness and topography of the coating to meet the appropriate specifications.

ZinKlad 96

ZinKlad 96 is a versatile coating used as either a ‘chrome-like’ corrosion resistant finish or to provide adhesion for organic paint coatings. ZinKlad 96 meets specifications from automotive manufacturers including GM, Ford, Nissan, Toyota and VW-Audi.

ZinKlad 250

ZinKlad 250 was the original finish specified by automotive manufacturers such as Ford, GM and VW-Audi.

ZinKlad 250 M

Recommended for safety critical fasteners. ZinKlad 250 M is a mechanical zinc plated deposit, which is ideal for fasteners that are at risk of hydrogen embrittlement (ASTM B695). This allows steel of any hardness to be processed quickly and effectively, offering the same high protection as more conventional electroplated zinc deposits.

ZinKlad 500

ZinKlad 500 zinc-iron finish with a deposit hardness above 200 HVN meets today’s requirements for coatings which comply with REACH and SVHC directives.

ZinKlad 5oo B ZinKlad 500 B is a black zinc-iron finish with a deposit hardness above 200 HVN meets today’s requirements for coatings which comply with REACH and SVHC directives.
ZinKlad 750 The coating for electrical grounding applications. Passes automotive cyclic corrosion testing requirements while still being able to perform its electrical grounding functionality.

ZinKlad 1000

ZinKlad 1000 is specified by global automotive manufacturers including Chrysler-FIAT, Ford, GM, PSA, Renault and VW-Audi.

ZinKlad 1000 B

ZinKlad 1000 B the high-performance black coating for automotive applications. Hexavalent chromium-free for exterior, self-thread cutting fasteners and steel pressings.

ZinKlad 1000 B-HG A black coating with excellent corrosion protection and high specular gloss. Designed for coating of automotive fasteners, this hexavalent chromium-free finish has a deposit hardness above 400 HVN.
ZinKlad 1000 B-EXP High-performance black coating for automotive applications. Hexavalent chromium-free, with a deposit hardness above 400 HVN offering extended corrosion protection when compared to other sacrificial coatings.

ZinKlad MG / MGL

ZinKlad MG / MGL finishes are specifically designed to prevent galvanic ‘contact’ corrosion between dissimilar metals such as steel and aluminum / magnesium. Specified by VW-Audi and Chrysler.

Rack Applications Overview

ZinKlad 240

ZinKlad 240 is a rack application specifically developed for presswork and tubes.

Brake 240

ZinKlad Brake 240 is a clear hexavalent chromium and cobalt-free coating, specifically developed to meet the automotive requirements for corrosion resistance on brake castings and assemblies

Brake 1000
